Swiss Cantons, Bern. ND (18th. century) silver Prize Medal, PCGS SP62. 19mm. SM-715; Haller-808.
Obverse: NEC TEMPORA PONIT, personification of Bern seated to right, radiant Eye of God above. Reverse: NEC METAS RERVM, Caduceus among symbols of science and art. Evidently a fairly scarce type, the only example of which we have been able to find record. Toned in a range of attractive colors, with a few light hairlines on the obverse justifying the assigned grade. We would estimate this piece to have been struck around 1720, based on the style of the engraving.
PCGS Certification Number: 39657519
